What Is Expository Essay?

Expository comes from “expose” and expose means to disclose or reveal something to others. Similar to that, in an expository essay, your main goal should be to explain and inform your reader about a certain topic by providing such extensive details so they can easily understand it.

It differs from other types of essays like persuasive and narrative because the idea isn’t to persuade the reader or showcase your creative writing skills. In an expository essay, the purpose is to inform the reader and provide them with relevant information.

With all the other types of essays like a persuasive essay or argumentative essay, one might get confused with the several types of essays.

Have you ever been asked to explain and illustrate a certain topic through investigation or argumentation to clarify the topic for the readers?

Has your friend ever asked you to describe something in depth with all the additional details and facts? Writing an essay of any such kind is an expository essay.

Once you know what is an expository essay, writing it won’t be a problem for you anymore. All you have to do is keep some little details in mind before writing your expository essay.

Thesis Introduction
Thesis Introduction

What is a thesis?

A thesis or a final project is the alternative of final exam in disciplines such as humanities. They have different forms, but typically it is a paper that comprises everything a student has learnt in their respective discipline.

When it comes to choosing the topic for your thesis paper, some professors like to guide the students towards a more generalized area and you can narrow it down and come up with a more targeted topic.

If you want your thesis to create a strong impact on the readers, every tiny detail in your thesis should be on point. Students make some minor mistakes while writing a thesis that can have a huge impact on the final result.

Writing a thesis statement

After choosing your topic you will need to write a related thesis statement, in the first paragraph of your analytical essay. If you want to persuade the reader you will have to come up with a good thesis statement without making it sound too general. Do this by learning various literary terms and enrich your essay with it.

Creating an analytical essay outline

When writing an analytical essay, you will have to create the outline which is an essential part to help organize the entire writing process. This will help you come up with a logical and analytical work, making it easier for the readers to understand. The traditional way is to include three parts: the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. You can incorporate these in three-five paragraphs.

Introduction:

  • Introduce the topic
  • Provide the background context
  • Hook sentence
  • Thesis statement

Body:

  • This is the main part where the claims and their supporting evidence is stated, consider the following template.
  • Topic sentence which includes the argument and evidence to prove it and then link it with another sentence.

Conclusion:

  • Summary
  • Thesis statement
  • Final thoughts

Do you know what the lab reports are?

A lab report is basically an analysis of a scientific process.

  • How did you carry out the procedure?
  • What methods were used in it?
  • What was the hypothesis?
  • What was the evidence to support your hypothesis?
  • How did you formulate the results?
  • What is the analysis of your experiment according to the hypothesis?

Hence, everything done during an experiment is discussed in your lab report. Lab reports are important when it comes to lab courses and they also contribute significantly to your final grades.

It is time taking for sure but it is certainly not a hard nut to crack, and it is a great opportunity for students to polish their writing skills.

A book report is much simpler than writing a book review; here you discuss the contents of the book provide background information about the author and his/her background to help the reader understand the author’s point of view.

Along with that, a book report summarizes important aspects such as the story, plot, setting and characters.

Remember, that the reason your professor has assigned a book report is to check your level of understanding of the book.

Select the Book

Most of the times students are already assigned a book by their professors but if you are allowed to select your book, choose one which you are sincerely excited to read.

You can pick any book as long as it is suitable for the setting of your classroom.

Know that choosing is not always a fun option.

In cases where students are assigned a book to write a report, they believe they won’t like it, and it will be difficult for them, but instead, they often end up enjoying writing report of that particular book.

Try to be open-minded and avoid assuming that you won’t do your best if you are not allowed to choose a book.

  1. Read the Book

It sounds pretty obvious and logical but instead of actually reading a book most of the students today take information regarding it from internet and get done with their tasks in no time.

Remember! If you actually want to understand and know the book, you need to thoroughly read that book.

While reading the book point the following fundamental elements for your book report.

  1.         Plot
  2.         Setting
  3.         Characters
  4.         Themes
  5.         Symbols
  6.         Point of view
  7.         Topic
  8.         Important events
  9.         Information about what you have learnt regarding the topic?
  10. Write an Outline

Outlining is always the best idea.

Know that an outline helps in giving a clear picture of what your book report will look like.

You can create your outline by taking notes that you took while reading a book.

Do not write unnecessary details in your outline.

  1. Write and Edit

Pour down all your ideas and information that you have regarding the particular book. Be free in doing that. Remember! This first attempt of your writing will be considered as a draft that is your outline’s fleshed-out version.

Put all your ideas in paragraph or sentence form.

You may end up producing more than one draft for your work.

After a final draft, start “writing” your book report. This is usually a long process because of drafts.

Once you’re done writing don’t forget to edit your document. It is the most important part of your report writing in which you are required to remove all the unnecessary details and look for grammatical, punctuation, and sentence structure errors.

Make sure multiple times that your document is error-free.

  1. Format the Book Report

Focusing on the formatting of your book report is important

It does not take long, a little simple formatting like clear fonts or handwriting, and short paragraphs increase the readability of your book report and give it a professional look.

Finding A Best Essay Writing Service

Are you a working student looking for online help to take care of your endless writing assignments?

Were you under the impression that you will find an essay writing service just like that?

Well, let me break it to you --- the internet is filled with fraudulent essay writing services.

Here’s how you can save yourself from falling victim to an illegitimate essay writing service.

  • Carefully go through their website

The first step is to thoroughly check their website, as it says a lot about the quality and the kind of work they do.

If the website appears misleading and has vague description, or it is poorly designed then it can only mean that you will be dealing with unprofessional people.

In case, you spot any mistakes such as grammatical errors, punctuation mistakes, incorrect spellings, etc.

If their own website is full of errors how can you expect them to come up with an error-free paper for you?

In addition to that, read the sample work provided as it reflects the capabilities and writing style of their writers. If you find errors or you can’t relate to their way of writing, then it’s best to look for another company.

  • False promises

If the website claims instant and speedy delivery of quality papers, know that it is a scam.

You can’t believe companies offering delivery within an hour --- you’re smarter than that.

I wouldn’t count on them to deliver my paper and if by any magical power they did come up with a paper within one hour --- it will either be plagiarized or full of countless errors.

Now, that’s not the kind of paper you would want to submit to your professor and put your grades in jeopardy.

If you want a well-researched and well-written paper, then it’s best to place your order well in advance so your deadlines can be met and you won’t be running around looking for instant deliveries.

  • Reviews and feedbacks

Reading the testimonials of other clients can help you figure the kind of service a company provides, if more people are dissatisfied, or they don’t have a feedback section, then it’s clear as day that you don’t want to place your order with them.

  • Minimum rates

While students look for essay writing service that fall under their budget, it’s not always a good practice. These companies know that students can’t spend a large amount on their essays, so they keep their prices extremely low to get whatever money they can from you.

If you want a high quality paper, good enough to score you an A grade, then you will have to pay accordingly.

I’m not asking you to break your bank while ordering your essays online but looking for extremely cheap rates isn’t the right way either.

  • Ask around

Almost every other student nowadays is taking professional help. You can ask your friends and peers to recommend tried and tested companies. This way you won’t have to go through the struggle of finding a website yourself.

It can seem a bit overwhelming looking for the right essay writing company, but it is a one time effort only. Once you are done with this stage, imagine how your life will be --- no writing assignments --- no missing work to meet deadlines.

Step guide to craft a perfect analytical essay

An analytical essay is a type of academic writing where the author analyzes and interprets a certain event or situation.

Some students find academic writing a difficult and dull task.

Are you one of those students?

Writing is not a dreadful task as you might think. All you have to do is follow a step by step guide and you will end up with an amazing piece of writing.

Step 1: Start preparing to write your essay

Decide the topic of your essay.

Sometimes your professor will assign you with a topic for your essay. But if you have to choose a topic yourself, go for a topic you find interesting and carefully analyze every aspect of it.

If you are writing an essay on a historical event, pay attention to every little detail and discuss it in your essay. Analyze the factors that contributed to the event and what was the effect of the event on others at that time.

Write down your thesis statement.

Your thesis statement summarizes your entire essay in a single line by giving an idea to the readers what your essay will be about. Summarize your entire essay in your statement to create an impact on the readers.

Find evidence to your analysis.

Look for some additional details that you can add in your essay while analyzing your topic. You can also add some interesting facts or analysis done by other researchers. That would increase the credibility of your essay.

Plan and compose your essay.

Create an outline.

Prepare an outline for your essay and how you are going to unfold the events. The order of events is always important in any academic writing. This creates a rhythm and flow of the essay that helps the readers follow your idea.

Introduction of your essay.

Use catchy phrases to grab the attention of your audience from the beginning. Be creative while writing the introduction but do not try to make it over dramatic. End the introductory part of your essay with a thesis statement.

Body Paragraphs of the essay.

The body paragraphs discuss the main arguments in your essay. It is the part where you actually analyze and interpret different aspects of your topic.

Create a strong analysis by adding additional details in the body paragraphs. Remember that every interpretation and analysis should link to the thesis statement of your essay.

Conclusion of your essay.

Present integrated solutions to your analysis in the conclusion of your essay. You can also restate your introduction.

Make sure that your conclusion is short but strong to summarize your entire analysis.

A simple way to explain this question is when one event makes another event happen.

You see this cause-effect relationship in your daily life. Look around and you will find several examples of how one event affects the occurrence of another.

Everything we do, everything we see is related to one another in some way.

  •         How are oceans important in the water cycle?
  •         How rain affects the crops and fertility of the soil?
  •         How are crops important for a country?
  •         What can be the possible consequences if there is not enough food in a country?

A cause and effect essay a type of academic writing that describes the cause of a specific event and how it affects others.

The analysis of the connection between two events and how they relate to one another is a cause and effect essay. A cause and effect essay answers to the questions of “how” and “why”.

A cause and effect is one of the most common types of academic writing. Have you ever written a cause and effect essay?

I am sure you have. You will not find a single high student who has not been assigned a task to write a cause and effect by his professor.

Here are some basic steps you can follow to equip yourself with some amazing essay writing skills.

  • Read your assignment carefully.

At a glance, you might find the question or assignment very simple. But understanding it is very important before you start writing.

What if you read the question wrong in a hurry and you end up with something completely opposite to the requirements? All your efforts will go right down the drain and you might be risking your grades.

That is the risk you don’t want to take. Take your time. Read the question carefully.

If there are any additional requirements, note them down. Check the deadline for your essay. Mark it on your calendar.

Check if you have to write your essay in a specific format. Is there anything else you need to consider before writing?

Once you have thoroughly analyzed the question of your assignment, you can now start with your essay.

  • Choose a topic for your essay.

Sometimes your teacher might assign you a topic. If the topic the given, you don’t have to stress about choosing one for your essay. All you have to do is research and start writing.

Once you have entered high school, your spoon feeding days are over. Your teacher will simply assign you a task to write down a cause and effect essay. You will have to choose the topic yourself.

A topic makes or breaks your essay.

If you have chosen a good topic, it will be very easy for you to write an effective essay.

But don’t stress over choosing a topic for your essay. Brainstorm different ideas in your mind. Note down the topics that sound interesting to you. It is always better to choose a topic of interest. When you are interested in writing something, you will write it in a better way.

Once you have written down different topic ideas, narrow them down. Conduct a little background check to see which topic you can present from your point of view. Also, check if you can meet all the requirements of your essay with that specific topic.
